There’s a version of Beltane that exists online — soft, aesthetic, almost symbolic.
But historically, it was something much more real.
Beltane marked a turning point in the year.
Animals were brought out to pasture.
Fires were lit for protection.
Flowers were placed at thresholds — not for decoration, but to guard and bless what was inside.

These weren’t rituals for the sake of it.
They were rooted in the land, in survival, and in working with the season as it shifted into its most fertile, active phase.
And while we no longer live in the same way, something about this time of year still carries that same movement — growth, opening, life becoming more visible.
There are simple ways to connect with this, without turning it into something performative.
